MDC Global are currently seeking a Hydraulic Engineer with building services experience to join our Perth based team. The successful candidate will be working collaboratively with the wider team to deliver a steady pipeline of exciting projects throughout WA, QLD, NSW & VIC.

About the Role

As a member of the MDC team, you will report to the Senior Hydraulic Engineer. You will be passionate about multi-discipline co-ordination and have an awareness of all disciplines.

You will be expected to liaise with clients, architects, and other members of our internal team with confidence and clarity.

You will be committed to the development of high-quality and cost-efficient design solutions for our clients by having a solid understanding of hydraulic engineering principles, standards, codes and practical design experience.

Necessary Qualifications, Skills and Experience required for this role

To be considered for this role, you should be able to hold or demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Minimum 2-5 years experience as a hydraulic engineer with building services experience in Australia.
  • Tertiary qualification relevant to hydraulic engineering.
  • CPEng, NER, and RPEQ certification will be highly regarded but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of drafting tools such as AutoCAD. Understanding of REVIT would be advantageous.
  • Ability to prioritise and think strategically about timing and method of delivering project information.
  • Strong project management and services coordination experience.

MDC Global are currently seeking a Drafting Coordinator with building services experience to join our Perth based team. The successful candidate will be working collaboratively with the wider team to deliver a steady pipeline of exciting projects throughout WA, QLD, NSW & VIC.

About the Role

Working closely with our engineering and drafting teams, this is a hybrid role covering drafting, coordination, and quality/document control.  The role is critical within our business and is essential to our growth as well as improving our in-house processes and quality of work to our clients.  The successful candidate will be coordinating all drafting works between our engineers and our drafting team.

This role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the entire lifecycle of a project in each engineering discipline.

The responsibilities of the Drafting Coordinator will include but not limited to:

  • Coordinate all drafting works within the business.
  • Prepare high quality technical design drawings within scope, timeframe, and allocated budget.
  • Mentor and coach, our offshore teams in drafting and the company’s best practices.
  • Design and drafting duties across all Services. (MEP)
  • Produce concepts and detailed designs in line and with client requirements.
  • Able to review and understand the project REVIT model and architectural design drawings in relation to building services.
  • Prepare high quality technical design drawings within scope, timeframe, and allocated budget.
  • Manage project deliverables including coordination with other services.
  • Client and external design team liaison as required, to complete the project deliverables.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Be proficient in quality assurance and document control.

Necessary Qualifications, Skills and Experience required for this role

To be considered for this role, you should be able to hold or demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • At least 5 years in design drafting experience. (MEP experience required)
  • At least 2 years of building services experience.
  • Proven experience in coordination, document, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of Australian legislation, building code, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in software – AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to work additional hours when required.
  • Ability to prioritise and think strategically about timing and method of delivering project information.
  • Strong project management and services coordination experience.

 To be considered for this role, you should be able to hold or demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Mechanical Engineering Qualification
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a mechanical engineer with building services experience in Australia. Consultancy experience is desirable.
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD is a must (proficiency in Revit would be highly desirable)
  • Working towards achieving CPEng, NER, and RPEQ certification will be highly regarded
  • Able to design and complete documentation of air-conditioning and ventilation systems
  • Able to read and apply design manuals and understand project-specific design guidelines while implementing them in the design
  • Complete heat load calculations using CAMEL, HAP, and/or relevant software
  • Able to prepare concept sketches (hand markups or Bluebeam markups)
  • Prepare drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical engineering works under the direction of Lead Mechanical Engineer with minimal input.
  • Experience with other building services coordination (Electrical, Fire, and Hydraulics)
  • Coordinate with architectural and structural requirements
  • REVIT, NAVIS works, BIM modelling, and clash detection modelling will be encouraged
  • Ability to prioritise and think strategically about timing and method of delivering project information
